    • Household Recycling: City limits of Lake Mills, Scarville, Rake, Fertile, Thompson, Leland, Britt, Crystal
    Lake, Kanawha and Woden, plus the rural Areas of Winnebago, Hancock and Worth Counties.
    • House Hold Hazardous Waste Recycling - Held annually – Will collect batteries including car batteries,
    florescent lamps, CFL’s, paints, etc. Watch the local newspaper and Channel 2 for details.
    • Paper, cans, plastic and glass (FREE); appliances, electronics ($11) and tires ($2-$8) There is a drop off
    box available during gate hours 7am – 4pm. Please pay at office.

Household fluorescent lamps (CFL’s) and batteries
The EPA strongly encourages the recycling of all mercury-containing bulbs after they burn out. Mercury is an essential component of many energy-efficient light bulbs including fluorescent bulbs compact fluorescent light bulbs [CFLs] and high intensity discharge [HID] bulbs –http://www.epa.gov/epawaste/hazard/wastetypes/universal/lamps/index.htm

    Mail in recycling options:

    • Car batteries – Wait for Household Hazardous Waste days or the location new battery is purchased from
    should take the old one.
